"Merry Christmas to Everyone"

I did not get to hear the pastor's sermon today since I had to work in the kitchen. (Pot luck) The theme of his sermon was "The Unknown Light." John 1: 6-17. I read the scripture and this is what I got from it. ch. 6. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He, John, was not the Light, but was sent to bear witness of that light.  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
John was sent into this world before Jesus was. John and Jesus's mothers were cousins. John's mother, Elizabeth, was pregrant with John when the angel Gabriel, came to tell Mary, Jesus mother, that she was going to bear a son also. The angel told Mary that his name would be Jesus. Unlike Elizabeth, Mary was not married, just betrothed, which is a promise to be married. To put this plain, Mary had not sleep or lain with any man, and now the angel was telling her she was going to have a son. He, which is the Light, the scripture is speaking of, is Jesus. ch. 12. but as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that beleive on his name. LISTEN TO ch.13. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, not of the will of man,(or Mary) but of God. And the Word, (Jesus) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. If you remember, John had spoken to the people telling them that he, John, baptized with water, but one was coming later whose shoes he,John, would not to worthy to unlose. He, John, said that one, Jesus, would baptizse with the Holy Ghost. Jesus was the Light that was unknown by the people.

God bless
