According to our pastor today, some people are just tired of waiting on Jesus to come back to earth and take us home. They want to go now. He pointed out that some would rather be pleasure seekers than workers. "Hurry Lord, cause I'm tired of working and waiting." But 2 Peter 3, 8 says "one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." How much longer have we got to wait? The scripture goes on to say, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackkness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." A sure sign that we have to all stay repented or we will miss the eternal heavens. Verse 10, But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night: in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are within shall be burned up. Are we getting tired of working for the Lord? I personally love working for my Lord. I am 79 years old and have a husband who is 85, who has been battleing cancer for 5 years. Today I was elected to serve as a deacon on our church board for a term of three years. "Please pray for me." Chapter 14, "Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. I truly believe that more is going to be required from us than what most of us think.
God bless
